Within restoration projects, there are complex ecological, social, and economic challenges. By funding collaborative projects that build capacity and generate new knowledge, we are helping to overcome barriers to large-scale restoration across Europe. Our unique position within the Cambridge Conservation Initiative allows us to harness world-leading expertise and data to create tools that strengthen restoration efforts on the ground.
Arts and cultural practices offer powerful ways to reconnect people with place, explore collective stories, and imagine new futures. They help express emotional ties to landscapes and seascapes, and engage communities in times of change. In collaboration with the CCI Arts Science and Conservation Programme, we support a range of artist residencies, inspiring deeper connections to nature and reaching wider audiences for restoration and revival.
To support the global goal to restore 30% of degraded ecosystems by 2030, the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme have created a series of ‘Restoration Dialogues’. This series brings together diverse experts to explore urgent restoration issues, catalysing inclusive, impactful restoration at scale.
