Problem: The Koitajoki watershed is an iconic landscape for both its biodiversity value and its cultural heritage. The more people who can learn about this special area and are interested in its preservation, the higher the chances of successful conservation, restoration and cultural preservation, as well as increased tourism to the region.
Action: Snowchange gains international recognition through its work in the area, raising the watershed’s profile and awareness of issues threatening its persistence.
Indicator: Increased traffic to the Koitajoiki website will be a proxy for the increasing awareness of Snowchange Cooperation and its restoration priorities.
Methods
Snowchange tracks the number of visitors per year to its website, Koitajoki.org, as well as the average number of daily users per year.
Results
The website was launched in December of 2022, and in that month they received 17 visitors to the site. The first full year of data after the website launch was 2023, where the number of users has shifted 17 to 384 total visitors, with a mean of 14 daily visitors.
