Scaling up native oyster production

Roadmap setting out a shared vision and practical recommendations for increasing European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) hatchery production to support restoration and regenerative aquaculture.

Developed through workshops, consultation and input from over 100 stakeholders across Europe, the roadmap identifies key barriers to scaling oyster seed supply and outlines actions relating to demand, investment, genetics, disease management, regulation and workforce development.

This roadmap was developed as part of an Advancing Restoration Knowledge grant led by the Zoological Society of London and the University of Portsmouth, in association with Blue Marine Foundation and NORA, and funded by the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme.
