We support projects that share our vision to restore some of Europe’s most precious – but threatened – landscapes and seascapes.
Each landscape reflects the region’s unique nature, culture, and history, yet they all aim for the same goal: a future where people and nature thrive together. They are building landscapes for life.
Our funding brings this vision to life, supporting large-scale restoration on the ground, the planning of bold new initiatives, and helping remove the barriers that stand in the way of recovery across Europe.
Across mountains and oceans, forests and wetlands, our landscape and seascape projects are reviving damaged habitats at scale. From eradicating invasive species and removing barriers that disrupt the natural flow of rivers to reintroducing key species that shape a landscape or seascape’s ecology – these efforts are reversing the effects of unsustainable use and creating thriving places for both nature and people.
Restoring biodiversity and ecosystems at scale is challenging. Fragmented land ownership, diverse stakeholders, and the need for solid science to inform policy can all create barriers to progress. Our Planning Grants help projects overcome these challenges – from supporting alliance-building and business planning to developing biodiversity baselines and proposal development – sparking bold and innovative restoration projects.
